Foot Prints of the Lord- Gokul Astami

Gokul Astami - The Birthday of Lord Krishna was celebrated on 17 08 2014 late evening ,  with prayers and devotion . On this day, we welcome Lord Krishna, as a small kid to each of our houses. The foot prints of Lord Krishna is displayed above. It is believed that Lord Krishna visits each of our Houses, has all the eatables specially prepared for him. Eatables as Seedai, Muruku, Rava ladu, Coconut Burfi , Butter, Milk , Curd (these three he loves). It takes great effort to prepare these dishes and my appreciation to Giri and her mother for this great effort.

The parallel currency

Black money ---This term is used to mean money illegally generated, on which there no tax is paid, always kept in liquid form. Contrast this with White Money, which is legally got, taxes paid .
There are situations, that if there is a requirement, the black money is converted into white, where taxes are , I am informed, are grossed up and paid. Some fictitious transactions are created and the conversion takes place.
Most educated people here know where the generation of Black Money is ……..
a.       Construction Business: It is a norm that 60% of cost of construction is paid in cash. (paid in black).  So why are the construction business not probed for  stopping this generation of black money ,extraction of black money. I don’t know the reason.  It is perhaps in some ones interest not to seriously probe these transactions. These are well oiled transactions, with all links neatly lined up and paid for to extinguish any loss….
b.      Another source -There are lots of franchisee who open expensive business, showrooms, etc. and stock them fully. And they do no business.  So how do these people fund their business (such as rentals, salaries, unsold stock, so on and so forth.)  It is clear that these business joints  are actually  front for something illegal, which also includes got black money
c.       Large infrastructure transactions, defense deals , (say anything large...)  have costs built up to cover black money transactions (generally commissions are paid in cash …..)
d.      A substantial amount of black money is generated in Private Business. Is this a surprise? The so called large business houses outsource these transactions where some expenses have to be incurred in Black… The consultants  who raise bills are paid for …………….
e.      So why are the authorities not going after these opportunists?
f.        Your guess for an answer is as good as mine
g.       Approximately over $1 trillion stashed as black money in large banks abroad
h.      It will be no surprise that most of these black money are owned by you know who......
i.
j.        Given this situation, it is your guess and my guess as to whether this black money will indeed come back
k.       Black money has made wrong persons rich, who flout rules, laws. These people have not regard for law, civic sense. They move around in expensive high end cars. Do not go to work, their
l.         Black money is a result of the corruption ….. They contribute negative to economy ....hoping that Money will buy anything...
It
I So it is all talk , no action......... Hopefully there will be a statesman who will get this back...............

an interview with Raghuraman, Guitarist

compete with yourself

Compete with yourself......
This is the best way to grow.  Look at yourself what you were same time say one year back ... if you have made some positive progress , it is good....

If you start comparing yourself with another person, you will end in misery, jealousy and pain. This is what I have learned over a period......

Temptation - the invitation door to Stress

Giving in to temptation results in troubles. A momentary lapse will undo your life long achievements, your standing in society, your place in the family. All in all, it results in severe stress. But you know it is easiest to give in to temptation ..............

Here , I will  recapitulate what I have said earlier, Say No to yourself . That way one will not fall prey to the temptation.

What does it require to say no to yourself.......... A lot of will power, inner strength.
Once you have done this, you will be happy that you did not fall for the tempation and will hold your head high. You will feel good internally , will be at peace and your contribution to society and world at large will be POSITIVE.

Incidentally, we are now fast approaching the end of Year 2013 and are now getting set to welcome 2014. How fast time moves......... with all these gadgets (smart phones, net access etc etc) it appears to move fast.

My wishes to all for  Happy new year , much in advance.

The power of saying No to yourself

Have you ever tried to say No to yourself. You will find this a powerful tool, specially when you are tempted to do some thing unusual or abnormal .
Once, you hold yourself and say  No and the event passes, you will be happy at what you did.
Events such as Cheating, telling a lie, so on so forth.

The festival of lights is on the 2nd of November and the legend has it that Lord Rama returned from the long exile of 14 years (vanvas) . This day is also celebrated for the killing of a demon Narkasura  and hence this signifies , the victory of good over evil.

Happy Diwali

Good Bye Navaratri 2013 Welcome Diwali 2013

We have come to the end of Navaratri festival 2013. We had more visitors to our home this year than most years.
The festival came to a close on Vijaya Dasami, the day of victory for good over bad and evil.
Next festival coming up is Diwali or the Festival of Lights and Joy,
In south India, people get up early before sunrise, have a traditional bath and then they start their joyous day.
People visit each other, seek blessings of the elders and wise.
After Navaratri, Diwali is another colorful festival which is worth waiting for each year.
Have a great Diwali

Big Banyan tree

This is a Banyan Tree , which is also called "Dodda Aallada Mara" ( in Local Kannada Language). This tree is now 400 years old . The tree is located around the Silicon city of Bengaluru and has been an ideal get away for us from the noise and dust of the city. Though it is a short distance from the city, the drive is very pleasent , through some nice greenery, which seems so rare now a days.

To do your own business or consulting ot To work for another company

I am going through this Dilemma for some time now.
Each has its benefits and downside.

If I work for another employer, I get paid monthly a fixed sum(?) and given that if I perform reasobably well, this gives some sort of stability. However, I have to report to several people, hear stories, become part of the performance appraisal etc...
There is also retirement

On the other hand, I am on my own, I have substantial time for myself, probably will do better in my consulting or business. There is no matrix of reporting to someone else, there is also no retirement. However, we do not get a fixed monthly income ,unless the firm payments are structure in that way.

I have yet to decide, but will surely keep posted on my blog..............

Picture of Batch 1978

This is a group picture taken in 1978 . I studied in MES College and this was the final year of my graduation in commerce.
As I look back ( i am now in touch with quite a lot of my classmates through face book etc), most of the classmates who were with me are now placed well in life.

I did a statistics and found that about 40% are bankers, (working with a Bank), about 15% are working in private sectors in some good position, ~ 5% are on their own ,~less than 1% has joined the Indian Civil Services and ~ than 1% have joined politics.
Interesting study.

Now when I check what %age of children of the above are nowdoing: about 70% in software, and rest distributed in other areas!!

Just see how things have changed!!! Is this good or bad? No idea, as I did not bother to analyse.

Home life

These are some paintings which my schoolmate sent to be over mail. I was astonished at the quality and clarity in  these paintings. The dress is traditional South India. Some food is being cooked in a pottery in traditional style. In earlier days, fire wood was used for cooking. I am told thsi was a healthier way of cooking as  compared to the current day cooking on a gas stove or microwave. That apart, the paintings decribe an important activity in a home and this has been displayed in such pure and clear form.
This calls for a great round of applause for this painting

When in anger

Coping up with Anger
Over years,  I realised one important aspect to achieve good relations, it is necessary to manage anger .

Cope up with anger. Anger is a positive emotion , that makes you think . If you can manage anger , you can manage life.

For most us Anger is mostly for a short period of time. If we can manage to handle Anger in this short period, you can see improved relations. Your self confidence will increase, your relationship with people around you will substantially improve.

I have experienced these positive things . Change yourself, since you cannot change the other person.

Several times, I have regretted that I reacted badly when I was in anger. It took long time to get back the relationship back to normal, long time to addressess yoursefl.

So next time , if you are angry, take control of yourself and manage it to make a positive impact .
