Ode to friendship

 Have you by me

     Not for today

        When blood is hot

          Sweat is raw

            Flesh is tender

  Have you by me

     Not for today

       When relations of

          Blood, sweat, flesh

            Are herded around me

 

   Have you by me

      For that days to come

        When blood is thick

           Sweat is rocky

             Flesh is saggy

   Have you by me today

      For that day

       When you send me away

         Not bound by blood, sweat, flesh

               But only by the warming glow

                Of you and your love for me.
